A Moose's Most Prized Posession
A moose's antlers are one of the most distinguishing features that separates them from other cervidae (Animals such as elk, deer, etc). They are there for two reasons: On male moose, antlers are used for showing off to females and fighting with other bull (male) moose. The second reason is for protection from other dangers. Female moose do not have antlers.
A moose's antlers may get up to 6 feet long and over 70 pounds!
Moose lose their antlers every winter and regrow them every fall (as seen below).
